1.
All hail Nightshade, Queen of the Elves, long may she reign Be ye human or elf, rules she the eve of your self All hail Nightshade, Queen of the Elves, forever fain Behold her misty lair and enter now if you dare
2.
Have you known astral minutes? Times transcending daily limits Something that you heard, something that you see A magic word that’s born of mystery: Can it be? How can it be? Long ago on a green hill, Two gnomes sweeping up a bad spill From adjacent spheres, this then I did spy: The rainbow gears turn inside the blue sky: Can it be? How can it be?
3.
When it rains, I keep dry, under a toadstool Feels like home, below the dome, peaceful & cool Safe and warm, free from the storm, my rainbow jewel
4.
Red Night 04:18
In the shadows, there’s a color, In the color, there’s a sound In the sound, I hear a luller, Whose sweet song leaves me spellbound Red, red night, in the darkness, I found delight Wandering lost in the rainbow night, I sense dark eyes watching me Feeling wonder instead of fright, So let this magic world be Red, red night, in the darkness, a strange strange sight Every time I start pushing, it just rolls on by, like a firefly After dusk falls, all can appear. Evening serves to lift the screen In a clearing as the mists clear, See the dancing pixie queen Red, red night, in the darkness, a fairy sprite
5.
Orange Night 02:21
Orange night is rising in the western skies and reflected in your eyes
6.
Yellow Night 03:01
Colored by light and shining, Girthed by the rays entwining Behold the sight: yellow night Yellow night, a faded blur, rarely to recur
7.
Green Night 02:55
Into the green night.. When you arrived, it seemed quite the miracle Almost enough to believe in the mystical Through the tunnel where all dreams are forgotten To a dark field that shy sylphs are sought in
8.
Blue Night 03:13
On a deep blue night in 1973, I said, “Cousin Reggie, come along with me” Feeling mighty thirsty like you wouldn’t believe, I had me a trick hidden up my sleeve In the blue night Along a dirt path, we was up to no good, To that soda pop stand nestled deep in the woods Reggie said, “Cousin, now what is the plan?” It’s a good day to stick it to the man On a blue night Seven is the number of the rainbow hue, Sweeter is the slumber when the night is blue “Say Mr. Johnson, what’s your best price, For two soda pop just as cold as ice?” I got a wheat penny, two Mercury dimes, And a simple new song all about the good times And the blue night
9.
Silver Night 03:39
Where the red-winged blackbird flies is underneath galactic skies Alone along a great divide, agog I long with arms spread wide I can’t see my hand, I can’t feel my fingers I don’t understand, how the darkness lingers Silver night There the marsh grass sways and bends, grasshoppers sings songs for their friends Summer heat creates a haze that bends the night in subtle ways See the changing night, it’s a funny feeling But it must be right, sets the mind to reeling Silver night My red bike can take me to, places where the night shines through In a world that likes to hide, its secrets by the fleet wayside Wind is in my hair, with the world flying by I can’t help but dare, who then shall deny? Silver night
10.
Purple Night 02:50
Purple night fades as clouds go ‘way, Young lovers dream of day Shall the elf king go round the horn, To save his queen in morn? Can we fly up in the sky? Only in our dreams While still night clings to its dark, With the far call of the lark Tiptoe lightly through the hedge, And swear the sacred pledge Is there more beyond the shore? More than what it seems Undines swim slowly in pools of clear water Venture to far lands, his queen, they have got her How can light dispel the night? Ride upon sunbeams
11.
Good to be here now, good to be there too Good to be anywhere, as long as I’m with you All roads lead to the same place of golden mirror Gaze within, shall you see all the stars draw nearer Good to be here now, good to be there too Good to be anywhere, as long as I’m with you Stand upon a glass bridge, see what the eye can see Floating on the water, a face stares back at me Good to be here now, good to be there too Good to be anywhere, as long as I’m with you Why did I go so far to see what I should be? Stay at home, see the world, in love of family Good to be here now, good to be there too Good to be anywhere, as long as I’m with you
12.
Rainbow Days 03:02
When the rainbow days come, It’s time to go with the flow No matter where you’re from, No matter where you go Rainbow days As the rainbow days glow, Leperchaun do come to play Hold close don’t let it go, Find gold the magic way Rainbow days If the rainbow days end, There’s no need to fret and cry Close your eyes, just pretend, Let the colors roll on by Rainbow days

about

"Rainbow Nights" is part one of Toadstool Shadow's all-original fairy tale psych-rock opera. In it, Bunny is seven years old. Caught in a rainstorm, he seeks shelter under a toadstool. When the rain stops, night falls, so Bunny hops home in the rainbow night. All night long, he encounters all number of elves, faeries, and other visionary creatures of the night. Some are friendly, some not so much. When at last he arrives home in rainbow day, Bunny knows, like Dorothy, that there's no place like home.

about

Toadstool Shadow Chillicothe, Ohio

“[Rainbow Nights] is one of the most creative things I’ve heard in a long time,” -Lauren Goldstien, www.girlattherockshows.com. Toadstool Shadow believes that there is another realm, hiding in plain sight. To illustrate this concept, they are creating an all-original three-part fairy tale opera. Part two, "Folk Songs of the American Wood Elf," is both a movie and an album. ... more
